Abstract : Anabelian varieties in dimension 1 are hyperbolic curves, i.e, curves with negative Euler-Poincare characteristic. Anabelian varieties in higher dimension, however, have still to be decided upon. Starting from a tentative list of properties, the talk discusses various geometric consequences for the structure of such varieties.
